Social Media Blah

Here's the deal, I like Facebook, I like blogs, I like reading some stories on the news, but I also kind of hate it...

I think social media has been such a great way to reconnect with old friends, however I think taking a break every so often is crucial to our happiness. I have taken a step back lately, and it has been kind of wonderful. I just don't like feeling insignificant about my life, house, cars, vacations I may or may not be able to take, what my kids are or aren't doing compared to everyone else's, and that is what tends to happen if I spend too much time enjoying these modern technologies.  Just needed to get that off my chest.

Saying that, I rather enjoy Pinterest, I don't "pin" tons of things I wish or want for. (Disclaimer: I did say tons not none)  I just love all the new recipes I am trying and funny and inspirational quotes to be found, and who doesn't need to know how many uses vinegar has?  I have actually tried a bunch of the recipes I have found, sometimes to my children's dismay, but more importantly to my husbands liking!

It is all about moderation friends, as is most things in life! Just sayin...

Knock On What?

We have all heard the expression, "Knock on Wood."  You know what is funny?  I usually really believe doing that action will impact the outcome of whatever it is I was trying to change, avoid, or prevent by "knocking on the wood."  Surely I can not be the only one that feels this way since it is a very widely practiced action?

Just Put Some Butter On It

My carbohydrate of choice is by far bread.  I love, love, love it!!!  When I got married in fact, it was just about the only carbohydrate I ate on a regular basis.  I have never been a fan of potatoes, rice, and especially pasta.  My dear husband has been wonderful at exposing me to new and exciting foods throughout the years, I am happy to say I can now eat potatoes if they are covered in enough gravy, (the food of royalty) and I have learned that I quite like sticky rice, but prefer it when covered by some yummy sauce that is accompanying a Thai or Japanese dish.  Pasta on the other hand I still can not stand, much like my dislike for ice cream, I think the stuff is terrible and I truly do not understand how it is such a staple in most peoples lives. Disclaimer:  I do like fried noodles, but that hardly counts as pasta.

Who Doesn't Like Ice Cream?

Truth is...I don't like ice cream.  I can't really explain why, but I can tell you I have tried just about every kind, seeing as how my husband is a connoisseur of the stuff..and I just really don't like it. I don't think it is because it is cold, because, well I like other cold foods.  I don't think it is because it is sweet, again because I like other sweets.  I don't believe it is the texture either.  I have really thought about this, mostly because the majority of people I talk to that find out I don't like ice cream think I am crazy. (So I have often wondered if "they" were right)  My hubby tried a new flavor, carrot cake, the other night.. (even after all of our years together he still asks me if I want a bite of any kind he is eating)  I will partake every so often, in the off chance I might like one of these tastes.  I like carrot cake, maybe I would like ice cream that tastes like it. The conclusion I have come to; I just think ice cream is plain and simply yuck, I would rather have a nice cooked savory dinner anytime over this treat.  Sorry folks, I just don't think this is something I will ever learn to enjoy as much as the rest of you.
